Nestled in the heart of St. Paul, Minnesota, the Como Zoo Conservatory offers a unique venue for couples seeking to exchange their vows amidst lush greenery and vibrant blooms. In this guide, we’ll explore what makes Como Zoo Conservatory an ideal setting for your special day and provide practical tips for planning a memorable wedding celebration.
Why Choose Como Zoo Conservatory?
Natural Beauty: With its stunning gardens, Como Zoo Conservatory provides a picturesque backdrop for your wedding ceremony and reception. The lush surroundings offer endless opportunities for beautiful photographs and create a romantic atmosphere for you and your guests. Bonus: You definitely won’t need to worry about adding additional decor at your ceremony site!
Unique Atmosphere: Como Zoo Conservatory is a truly one-of-a-kind wedding venue! There is nowhere else in Minnesota that allows you to get married in such a lush, tropical setting – even year round! If you’re dreaming of a tropical wedding but want to keep it closer to home, Como Conservatory might be the venue for you.
Convenient Location: Como Zoo Conservatory is conveniently located in St. Paul, with many local restaurants and hotel options nearby. Since the conservatory doesn’t necessarily have a “getting-ready” location, many couples opt to get ready in nearby hotels. There are also lots of nearby locations for small receptions, such as local restaurants and breweries. such as The Davidson and Celeste of St. Paul. If you are opting for a more intimate wedding and only having your ceremony at the conservatory, consider hosting a reception at W.A. Frost or The Lexington.
Tips for a Como Conservatory Wedding:
Timing is everything: Wedding ceremonies can only be hosted in the conservatory outside of regular visiting hours: that means either early in the morning or in the evening. This often means that ceremonies take place when it is dark outside. While the conservatory does have indoor lighting, if you’re hoping for a more brightly lit ceremony, check sunrise and sunset times before committing to a time slot. The conservatory also often hosts multiple weddings on site on the same day, with each couple given a specific time slot for the Sunken Garden and surrounding areas. They timeline for the ceremony is therefore pretty strict, especially if you want to use the conservatory gardens for couple’s photos or family photos after the ceremony.
Getting ready: Since Como Conservatory doesn’t have a space for this, you’ll have to find a different location for getting ready for your ceremony. Luckily, there are a lot of nearby hotels! Some of my personal favorite recommendations are The Davidson and Celeste of St. Paul.
Reception: If you are choosing to not have your reception at Como Conservatory, there are a lot of nearby restaurants and breweries that rent out space for small events as well! Some popular choices include W.A. Frost, Urban Growler, or The Lexington.
The Como Zoo Conservatory is one of my personal favorite wedding venues in the Twin Cities. It is such a unique and beautiful location that lends itself well to stunning images.
