St. Anthony Main Engagement

St. Anthony Main is one of my favorite areas in the Twin Cities for photo sessions, hands down. You can have so many different backgrounds and textures in just a few city blocks. It also happens to be everyone else’s favorite spot too! Ashley & Ehren got engaged at Alma, so they knew they wanted to give a nod to it in their engagement photos. Nearby St. Anthony Main was the perfect location for the rest of their photos. The only problem was that they had their photos taken in this area just a year before!

We didn’t want their photos to look just like the others they had just done. We found some hidden gem locations (with a few popular spots as well) to make sure they were unique. I was so happy when they told me we went to different spots from where they took their previous photos! We definitely don’t want to discourage anyone from taking photos in this spot – we love it for a reason. But it is important to note that there are always a lot of people around this area. So, if you feel like you want more privacy and don’t want lots of people watching your session, this might not be your spot.

If you’re alright with a few people around and want a city-vibe for your photos, this is a great spot to consider! It is also a perfect location for turning your engagement session into a date night! St. Anthony Main Date night spots

If you want to include a favorite date-night activity in your engagement photos, or just want a good place to stop by before or after your engagement session, here are some of my favorite local businesses in St. Anthony Main area!

The Foundry Home Goods: The Foundry is a lovely home goods shop just a block off of St. Anthony Main, specializing in simple and functional, yet beautiful home items. Think wooden brooms you would actually want to leave out of the closet because they’re just that pretty, or handblown recycled glass made by women in Jalisco, Mexico.

Alma: Alma is a Minneapolis staple, running a cafe, restaurant, and hotel on the same property. I’m a pretty big food snob, and I’ve never met a meal at Alma that I didn’t absolutely love. All of the produce and meat that they serve is local or regional and organic.

The Main Cinema: Okay, so they don’t have giant, cushy lounge seating or fancy food and drink, but this little theater is so charming and hosts a variety of film festivals, such as the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, Cine Latino, and the Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival. While they host a lot of indie films, they also have the big blockbusters, so there’s something for everyone.

Aster Cafe: Aster Cafe is a classic date-night spot in Minneapolis. Their indoor space is cozy and candle-lit, with live music most nights. Their European-style patio is so pretty, and overlooks St. Anthony Main and the river. Live music, string lights, yummy food and drinks, everybody loves the Aster!
