When asked to choose three words to describe their wedding day, Alicia & Sam chose: happy, intimate, and cinematic. They wanted to focus on real, authentic moments throughout their wedding day rather than posing for photos all day. Their style was right up my alley!
The getting ready spaces at Legacy Hill Farm are spacious yet cozy. The abundance of natural light was key to capturing some beautiful moments leading up to the couple’s intimate private vows.
In lieu of a first look, Alicia and Sam chose to read their vows privately to one another without actually seeing each other. I personally love the trend of private vows – sometimes it’s just easier to say what is truly in your heart one-on-one rather than in front of a group of people. I always make sure to give my couples a lot of space during this time to keep the moment truly intimate. That’s what zoom lenses are for!
Sam & Alicia’s wedding had people coming together from all over the world. Alicia’s family is from the Dominican Republic, while Sam’s family is from Liberia. It was so much fun to see the two families come together to celebrate such a wonderful couple, with pieces of each of their cultures woven into the day.
After a sweet and sunny outdoor ceremony, the couple took some time to take photos together around the gorgeous property on the farm. There are so many spaces here to escape to for a quiet moment and some lovely photos! The couple also got to experience a “first look” at their reception space while their guests were at cocktail hour. And what a gorgeous space it was! Although the reception space is indoors, the massive walls of glass doors allows you and your guests to feel like you are outside, while also avoiding any inclement weather. It rained A LOT on Sam & Alicia’s wedding day, but we were all able to stay warm and dry indoors.
One of the most important parts of this couple’s wedding day was the dance floor! Even with a moment of severe weather and sheltering in the bar (there are definitely worse places to be sheltered), this party kept going thanks to the DJ and the couple who never left the dance floor. If you want people to dance all night at your wedding, the key is to be dancing yourselves!
Thanks to the amazing staff at Legacy Hill Farm for making Alicia & Sam’s wedding day so beautiful. These two are so kind and so much fun, and I am so grateful to have been a part of their wedding day!
